Dungeon Dice
A solo DND roguelike adventure — roll the D20, choose your class, and conquer the dungeon. Face monsters, collect legendary loot, and defeat the Void Monarch to become a legend. Every roll tells a story.
What Is Dungeon Dice?
Dungeon Dice is a free browser-based roguelike dice game that brings the magic of tabletop DND to your screen. Unlike traditional dungeon crawlers that rely on real-time combat or complex skill trees, Dungeon Dice puts the fate of your adventure squarely on the roll of a 20-sided die (D20). Every encounter — whether it is a goblin ambush, a treasure chest, or a boss battle — is resolved through a satisfying dice roll with genuine stakes.
The game draws inspiration from classic solo RPG adventures like Fighting Fantasy gamebooks and modern roguelikes such as Slay the Spire and Dicey Dungeons. But Dungeon Dice carves out its own niche with a fully text-driven narrative with dynamic realm effects that change every run, and a deep equipment system spanning 8 gear slots.
Whether you are a seasoned roguelike fan looking for a quick dungeon crawl fix or a newcomer curious about dice-based RPGs, Dungeon Dice offers an accessible yet deep roguelike experience. The game features 7 unique dungeon realms, 4 character classes, and procedural elements that ensure no two runs are ever the same.

Authentic D20 Dice Rolls
Every action is resolved by rolling a 20-sided die with satisfying animations. Natural 20s trigger critical success; natural 1s bring dramatic failure. The dice decide your fate — no two runs are ever the same.
4 Unique Classes
Choose your hero: the stalwart Fighter, keen-eyed Ranger, arcane Wizard, or deadly Rogue. Each has unique ACT skills, ultimates, and uses a different primary stat — STR, DEX, or Luck. No two classes play the same.
Procedural Ambient Soundtrack
Yprocedural ambient music adapts to combat intensity, creating an immersive atmosphere, and even banter with you between floors. She has her own stats, inventory, and combat AI.
8 Equipment Slots
Outfit your character with weapons, armor, shields, rings, amulets, and consumables. Find loot from defeated enemies, purchase gear from wandering merchants, and upgrade your build each run.
Dynamic Realm Effects
Each dungeon run applies a random realm modifier — Shadow Realm (reduced visibility), Frozen Wastes (movement penalties), or Cursed Labyrinth (random stat drains). Adapt your strategy every time.
Epic Boss Fights
Every 5 floors you face a mini-boss. The final boss is the Void Monarch in the Black Citadel — a multi-phase encounter requiring smart use of all your accumulated gear, skills, and items.
Branching Narrative
Random events present moral choices — help a trapped merchant, negotiate with a troll, or ambush a rival adventurer. Your decisions affect loot, companion loyalty, and even the final boss encounter.
Achievements & Progress
Unlock 20+ achievements, track your win rate across difficulty levels, and compete for the highest score. All progress saves locally in your browser — no account needed.
How to Play Dungeon Dice
Getting started with Dungeon Dice is easy, but mastering the dungeon takes skill, strategy, and a bit of luck. Here is a step-by-step guide to your first run:
Step 1: Choose Your Character Class
At the start of each run, you select your class. Think carefully — your class determines your base stats (HP, Attack, Defense), starting equipment, and which skills you can unlock as you level up by clearing floors.
Fighter
Frontline tank. High survivability and consistent damage. Best for beginners. Gains the Shield Bash skill at level 3.
Ranger
Ranged expert. Uses DEX for attack — the harder they hit, the faster they strike. Caltrops, aimed shots, and weakness tracking. Balanced for players who want control.
Wizard
Glass cannon spellcaster. Devastating AoE spells that consume mana. Unlocks Fireball at level 5. Recommended for veterans who enjoy high-risk, high-reward gameplay.
Step 2: Explore Each Floor
Each dungeon floor presents a random encounter. You might find a monster to fight, a treasure chest to loot, a trap to disarm, a wandering merchant, or a story event. The encounter type is revealed before you roll, so you always have a chance to prepare.
Step 3: Roll the D20
Click the large golden D20 dice and watch it tumble across the screen in 3D. Your roll result, combined with your character's stats and any active buffs/debuffs, determines the outcome of the encounter. The target number (DC) is displayed before you roll:
- Natural 20 — Always a critical success! Maximum damage, bonus loot, or auto-succeed any challenge.
- Natural 1 — Critical failure! You take extra damage, trigger traps, or lose valuable items.
- Roll ≥ DC — Success with varying degrees of effectiveness based on how much you beat the DC by.
- Roll < DC — Partial failure — you might still survive but at a cost (lose HP, waste resources).
Step 4: Manage Your Resources
Between floors, use your accumulated gold to buy healing potions, upgrade equipment, or gamble at the mysterious dice shrine. Your inventory is limited, so you need to make strategic decisions about which items to carry and which to discard. Key resources include:
- Health Potions — Restore HP between fights
- Mana Crystals — Replenish Wizard mana
- Scrolls — One-time-use spells available to any class
- Rations — Rest before a boss fight to recover some HP
Step 5: Defeat the Bosses
Floors 5 and 10 feature mandatory boss fights. Floor 5 is a mini-boss (randomly chosen from the Goblin King, Shadow Wraith, or Frost Giant). Floor 10 is the Red Dragon — the game's ultimate challenge. The Red Dragon has three phases, and each phase requires different tactics. You cannot skip or flee from boss encounters — you must fight to progress.
Tips & Strategy for Beginners
- Start with Fighter on Easy difficulty. The extra HP and defense make mistakes more forgiving while you learn enemy patterns and encounter types.
- Always keep at least 2 healing potions for boss fights. Running out of heals before the Red Dragon is the most common cause of death. Buy potions early and resist the urge to use them on minor wounds.
- Pay attention to realm effects. If you are in the Shadow Realm, avoid risky sneaking checks. In the Frozen Wastes, prioritize buying warming items from merchants.
- Use your companion strategically. Lyra can tank hits, deal supplementary damage, and trigger combo attacks. Do not neglect her gear — equipping Lyra with better items dramatically improves your odds.
- Natural 1s happen. They are part of the game's charm. When you roll a critical failure, take a breath, heal up, and keep going. The Red Dragon has been defeated even after multiple natural 1s in a single run.
- Read the event text. Some events have hidden outcomes based on your class or equipped items. A Wizard with a fire staff might bypass an ice-wall obstacle without even rolling.
